Karin Coyne, PhD, MPH, is a Senior Research Leader and Scientific Director of Evidera’s Outcomes Research group. Evidera, formerly a division of United BioSource Corporation (UBC), was acquired by Symphony Technology Group and established as an independent portfolio company in July 2013. In her role at Evidera, Dr. Coyne’s responsibilities include instrument development and validation, as well as design and management of research studies focused on patient reported outcomes. Her areas of expertise include cardiovascular, urology, gastrointestinal, diabetes, and women’s health. Dr. Coyne has extensive experience in all phases of instrument validation and development and provides strategic consultation to clients regarding the inclusion of patient reported outcomes as primary or secondary endpoints in clinical trials. She has participated in preparing and defending FDA submissions of patient-reported outcomes.
Prior to joining Evidera, Dr. Coyne was a Senior Research Scientist at the George Washington University Medical Center’s Cardiovascular Research Institute, where she was responsible for direct oversight of all cardiovascular clinical trials. She guided the development and analysis of all patient reported outcomes research for the Institute, from protocol development, data management, and site coordination/communication to data analysis, interpretation, and manuscript preparation. Dr. Coyne earned her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Xavier University, her Master’s degree in public health from San Diego State University, and her Doctorate from the Johns Hopkins University. Her publications have appeared in Journal of Urology, European Urology, Circulation, Journal of American College of Cardiology, British Journal of Urology International, Journal of Sexual Medicine, Quality of Life Research, and Value in Health, among others.
