Alberto Lledó
Alberto provides strategic counsel and direction to internal and external programs and teams, regionally and globally, for all aspects of the clinical research work and all phases of studies in the neuroscience therapeutic area.
Based in Barcelona, Spain, Alberto joined PPD in 2017, with more than 22 years of experience in global medical leadership roles in pharma and as CMO of an academic spin-off company, which worked in collaboration with the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queen Square and UCL, both in London. Alberto’s clinical and research focus are in the areas of movement disorders (Parkinson’s disease, RLS), multiple sclerosis, pain, and peripheral neuropathies (specifically, diabetic peripheral neuropathy). Alberto has also been doing clinical practice for more than 30 years and has kept part-time clinical work as a neurologist, having the unique opportunity of staying close to day-to-day patients’ needs and clinical practice. He has also published extensively on Parkinson’s disease, pain, and multiple sclerosis.
Alberto served a neurology residency in Madrid (Hospital 12 de Octubre), a neuro-radiology fellowship at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), and a clinical fellowship in neuroimmunology at The University of Chicago. He also has a PhD in neuroscience for his work done in the Cajal Institute (CSIC, Madrid) and in the University of Chicago.
