Konstantin Stoitchkov

Konstantin brings extensive clinical oncology and hematology drug development expertise with strong academia, EORTC, and CRO industry leadership background. With more than 29 years’ experience in both clinical practice and clinical research, Konstantin is committed to capitalizing on advances in the rapidly evolving therapeutic landscape to establish PPD as a world-class partner in innovative clinical studies. His personal oncology and hematology experience includes treating patients with different types of hematological malignancies and solid tumors with surgery, chemotherapy, targeted, immune and vaccine therapy, bone marrow transplantation, and in clinical trials. At PPD he provides medical, scientific, and product development guidance to both external clients and internal PPD clinical operations and business development teams. He also consults on investigational new drug submissions and clinical input toward protocol and drug development programs.

Konstantin joined PPD in 2018 from Terumo, based in Leuven, Belgium, where he was medical director of oncology, responsible for the department of medical affairs. His team oversaw clinical programs of the existing portfolio including products in ablation, trans-arterial chemo-embolization (TACE) and selective intra-arterial radio-embolization (SIRT), as well as the research and development of new ones in solid tumors. Prior to that, Konstantin spent two years as global therapeutic area lead, oncology and hematology, at PAREXEL, based in Wavers, Belgium, where he was responsible for training, coaching, strategic consulting, and business development. Earlier at Covance, based in Brussels, Belgium, he served as medical and senior medical director for nine and a half years. His responsibilities included medical monitoring of Phase I-IV clinical trials both in hematological malignancies and solid tumors with different types and classes of therapeutic agents and options, including radiotherapy. He was also strongly involved in coaching, training and business development. At the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) headquarters, based in Brussels, Belgium, Konstantin served as a coordinating physician for two years.  He was responsible for all activities, including clinical trials management of the melanoma, soft tissue and bone sarcoma cooperative groups, and the cutaneous lymphoma task force. Prior to joining the industry, Konstantin worked at the National Cancer Centre in Sofia, Bulgaria, for 10 years where he was involved in the clinical management of patients with solid tumors, mainly melanoma, sarcoma and cutaneous lymphoma, as well as in training and teaching. Dr. Stoitchkov was the PI of several Phase II and III clinical studies. He started his career as an intern at the department of hematology of the Saint Louis hospital in Paris, France, where he spent one year, followed by one year at the department of children’s hematology at the same hospital.

Konstantin earned his medical degree from the Medical Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria. He has licenses in dermatology, venereology, and oncology from the Medical University in Sofia. He obtained his PhD in cutaneous biology and pharmacology with a thesis on biological markers of melanoma progression from the Denis Diderot Paris VII University in France. Konstantin is a member of EACR, ASCO, EADV, BUON and other medical and scientific organizations. He has over 75 scientific publications and presentations in peer reviewed journals including the European Journal of Cancer and Melanoma Research.
