Shields has an outstanding track record of success across all segments of the organization. In addition to her strong reputation with customers, she excels at building, integrating and expanding teams globally to strengthen PPD’s value to clients. She is known as a driver of process improvement initiatives that establish best practices and maximize productivity.
Prior to her current role, Shields was vice president of PPD® Biotech, after serving as executive director of business development for PPD. Shields’ commercial career began in integration technology sales before she moved into the life sciences industry in 2002. She held business development positions at another contract research organization and Medifacts before joining PPD in 2006. Aside from two years within the biopharma segment, her career has been focused on understanding and meeting the needs of the biotech market. She brings significant experience in building customized commercial models and partnership strategies designed to leverage the breadth of PPD’s global infrastructure, while remaining flexible and nimble to meet biotech’s unique needs.
Shields holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
